Hydraulic concrete mixes have improved waterproofing properties and are used for the construction of structures that are in temporary or permanent contact with amass of fresh, salt (seawater) or corrosive water. Usually, such structures are part of hydraulic engineering structures of natural or artificial reservoirs, as well as utility networks. This concrete type is suitable for the construction of dams, canal locks, pumping stations, water towers, sewers, and pools. Hydraulic concrete is also widely used for concreting in basements, cellars, garage inspection pits, etc. in areas with a high water table.
Basic requirements for hydraulic concrete are water resistance, water impermeability, frost resistance, compressive and tensile strength. Hydraulic concrete should provide reliable waterproofing in the widest possible temperature range under significant loads. All concrete mixes by HOUSE BETON LLC are always produced inline with the relevant requirements and mixing technology. The concrete mixture class and mixing recipe of the hydraulic concrete are selected depending on the operational requirements, type of the construction structure, climatic conditions in the location of the structure. Our managers are ready to provide personal professional advice on choosing the concrete mix to suit your exact needs and your budget. And our highly qualified laboratory technicians will select the raw materials and develop a tailor-made mix recipe for applications of any complexity level. We guarantee high quality of our hydraulic concrete plus delivery to your construction site.
The concrete grade is designated by an alphanumeric code (for example, M-100),which denotes the ultimate compressive strength expressed in kilograms per square centimetre. A higher value means a greater amount of cement in the composition. The grades range from M-50 to M-1000, while the most popular grades are between 100 and 500. The higher the strength grade, the stronger, more frost-resistant and more durable the concrete.
Today, design specifications often define the class of concrete mix, which shows properties of the mix more precisely. The class of concrete mix denotes the permissible deviation from the mix quality. It shows the strength value obtained for an actual sample while the grade shows the estimated strength only. The class of concrete is marked with the letter ‘B’, and ranges from 3.5to 80. Classes B7.5 to B40 are used in domestic construction.
B25 has improved strength, water impermeability, frost resistance, and density and is able to take up significant static and cyclic loads. It is used for concrete casting of foundation slabs, floor slabs, vertical structures, reinforced concrete items, as well as industrial floors that are intended for further topping treatment.
Mixes of class B30 offer increased strength performance. They are used in applications, where the increased strength, waterproofness, and frost resistance are required, including concrete casting of foundation slabs, floor slabs, vertical structures, structural columns, reinforced concrete items, as well as industrial floors that are intended for further topping treatment.
B35 is a high strength concrete used in construction projects, where constant heavy loads are expected. Possible areas of application include bridge construction, hydrotechnical industry, foundations of high-rise buildings, industrial floors, etc.
B40 is an extra strong concrete mix. It is used in construction projects, where constant heavy loading in aggressive environments is expected. B40 has improved waterproofing properties and is chemically resistant.
Р3 — workability factor measured by concrete slump test, with a slump of 10-15 cm. The mix is used for the construction of foundations, stairs, screeds, floors and for pouring into form works. This concrete mix must only be poured using special construction tools: vibrating pokers, vibrating screeds, concrete laying machines.
Р4 — workability factor measured by concrete slump test, with a slump of 16-21 cm. The mix is used in applications of any complexity level. Due to good workability (fluidity), it fills a form work completely, so that no pores or air voids are formed. The mix can be transported over a long distance by a concrete pump or a chute system.
