The class of concrete for floor structures affects the quality, strength, and reliability of the entire structure. Load resistance is the most important performance characteristic of floor slabs, so special attention should be paid to the quality of concrete and compliance with process requirements during preparation of the mixture. Floor slabs for construction are produced of concrete with a class of at least B22.5. This class of concrete can be used in projects where potential loads applied to the structure are low. The best options for construction projects with heavy structural loads are concrete classes B25 and B30. Slabs and supporting structures made of such concrete are characterized by high strength and structural reliability.
Usually, construction engineers select the concrete class most suitable for your construction project themselves. However, if you still have any questions, our managers are ready to provide personal professional advice on choosing the concrete mix to suit your exact needs and your budget. And our highly qualified laboratory technicians will select the raw materials and develop a tailor-made mix recipe for applications of any complexity level. We guarantee high quality of our concrete mixes for floor structures and compliance with all relevant requirements and standards, plus delivery to your construction site.
The concrete grade is designated by an alphanumeric code (for example, M-100),which denotes the ultimate compressive strength expressed in kilograms per square centimetre. A higher value means a greater amount of cement in the composition. The grades range from M-50 to M-1000, while the most popular grades are between 100 and 500. The higher the strength grade, the stronger, more frost-resistant and more durable the concrete.
Today, design specifications often define the class of concrete mix, which shows properties of the mix more precisely. The class of concrete mix denotes the permissible deviation from the mix quality. It shows the strength value obtained for an actual sample while the grade shows the estimated strength only. The class of concrete is marked with the letter ‘B’, and ranges from 3.5to 80. Classes B7.5 to B40 are used in domestic construction.
B22.5 is a versatile mix that can be used in domestic construction for structures of any complexity, if it does not violate design requirements. That is why B22.5 is one the most popular mixes. It is considered to be an intermediate class between universal mixtures and those used by construction professionals.
B25 has improved strength, water impermeability, frost resistance, and density and is able to take up significant static and cyclic loads. It is used for concrete casting of foundation slabs, floor slabs, vertical structures, reinforced concrete items, as well as industrial floors that are intended for further topping treatment.
Mixes of class B30 offer increased strength performance. They are used in applications, where the increased strength, waterproofness, and frost resistance are required, including concrete casting of foundation slabs, floor slabs, vertical structures, structural columns, reinforced concrete items, as well as industrial floors that are intended for further topping treatment.
B35 is a high strength concrete used in construction projects, where constant heavy loads are expected. Possible areas of application include bridge construction, hydrotechnical industry, foundations of high-rise buildings, industrial floors, etc.
B40 is an extra strong concrete mix. It is used in construction projects, where constant heavy loading in aggressive environments is expected. B40 has improved waterproofing properties and is chemically resistant.
Р3 — workability factor measured by concrete slump test, with a slump of 10-15 cm. The mix is used for the construction of foundations, stairs, screeds, floors and for pouring into form works. This concrete mix must only be poured using special construction tools: vibrating pokers, vibrating screeds, concrete laying machines.
Р4 — workability factor measured by concrete slump test, with a slump of 16-21 cm. The mix is used in applications of any complexity level. Due to good workability (fluidity), it fills a form work completely, so that no pores or air voids are formed. The mix can be transported over a long distance by a concrete pump or a chute system.
